Department of Advanced Spine Surgery Services

Comprehensive and specialised care for cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine conditions, including complex and previously treated problems — with personalised treatment planning focused on pain relief, mobility, function and long-term spine health.

Endoscopic Spine Surgery

he service provides uniportal and biportal endoscopic spine surgery, including BESS/UBE, endoscopic discectomy, decompression, foraminotomy, stenosis decompression and endoscopic revision surgery. Treatment is considered according to the patient’s condition, anatomy, overall health and expected recovery requirements, with the suitability of minimally invasive techniques discussed before treatment is finalised.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery is offered for selected patients requiring decompression, stabilisation or fusion while reducing disruption to surrounding tissues where clinically appropriate. Procedures include MIS discectomy, decompression, laminectomy, TLIF, PLIF, OLIF, XLIF/DLIF, percutaneous fixation and tubular retractor spine surgery.

Lumbar Spine Surgery

Lumbar spine surgery is provided for conditions such as disc disease, spinal stenosis, instability, deformity and recurrent lumbar problems. Treatment options include microdiscectomy, laminectomy, decompression, PLIF, TLIF, ALIF, OLIF, XLIF/DLIF, dynamic stabilisation and revision lumbar surgery, with treatment planning based on symptoms, imaging, neurological findings and previous treatment.

Cervical Spine Surgery

Cervical spine surgery addresses conditions involving neck pain, arm pain, nerve compression, spinal-cord compression, instability, deformity and cervical trauma. Procedures include ACDF, cervical disc replacement, corpectomy, posterior decompression, laminoplasty, laminectomy with fusion, occipitocervical fusion and C1–C2 stabilisation, with careful assessment of neurological function and spinal cord involvement.

Thoracic Spine Surgery

Thoracic spine surgery focuses on conditions affecting the middle portion of the spine, where careful assessment is important because of the nearby spinal cord and chest structures. The service includes thoracic decompression, discectomy, fusion and corpectomy, supported by detailed neurological and imaging assessment and coordinated postoperative rehabilitation.

Spinal Deformity Surgery

Spinal deformity surgery is available for children, adolescents and adults with scoliosis, kyphosis and other spinal alignment conditions that may affect posture, balance, pain or function. Treatment includes adult deformity correction, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis correction, early-onset and congenital scoliosis surgery, kyphosis correction, three-column osteotomies, growing rods and selected vertebral body tethering procedures.

Spine Trauma Surgery

Spine Trauma Surgery provides urgent assessment and treatment for injuries affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. The service includes cervical, thoracic and lumbar trauma fixation, percutaneous trauma stabilisation and fracture-dislocation reconstruction, with particular attention to spinal stability, neurological safety and coordinated emergency and rehabilitation care.

Osteoporotic Spine Procedures

Osteoporotic spine procedures are designed for patients with weakened bones and vertebral compression fractures that may cause pain, loss of height or reduced mobility. Treatment options include vertebroplasty, balloon kyphoplasty, cement augmentation and instrumented stabilisation, alongside guidance on bone health, fall prevention and rehabilitation.

Interventional Spine Procedures

Interventional Spine Procedures provide targeted treatment options for selected back, neck, nerve and joint-related pain. Procedures include epidural steroid injections, selective nerve-root blocks, facet-joint injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, sacroiliac-joint injections and trigger-point injections, used alongside medication, rehabilitation and lifestyle-based care where appropriate.

Spine Infection Surgery

Spine Infection Surgery is designed for patients with spinal infections, including tuberculous disease and pyogenic spondylodiscitis. Treatment may include tuberculous spine surgery, surgery for pyogenic spondylodiscitis, debridement and spinal reconstruction, with medical monitoring, infection treatment, nutrition and rehabilitation integrated into the care pathway.

Revision & Complex Spine Surgery

Revision and Complex Spine Surgery is designed for patients with persistent or recurrent symptoms following previous spine treatment, failed fusion, implant-related problems or adjacent-segment disease. Treatment may include revision decompression, revision fusion, implant removal, revision instrumentation and pseudarthrosis repair, with detailed review of previous surgery, imaging, alignment and fusion status.

Motion Preservation Surgery

Motion Preservation Surgery is available for selected patients whose spinal condition may be treated while retaining movement at the affected spinal level. Procedures include cervical artificial disc replacement, selected lumbar disc replacement and dynamic stabilisation, following assessment of disc health, spinal alignment, symptoms and suitability for motion-preserving treatment.
